Calibration Technologist & Technician — Precision Measurement Specialist (Contract, Remote)
Company Overview
We are a well-established organization operating across high-precision industries including aerospace, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, and defense.
With a team of dedicated technical professionals and a commitment to measurement accuracy and quality compliance, we partner with leading engineering teams to deliver calibration services that meet the most demanding industry standards.
We are a results-driven, people-first workplace where technical expertise is genuinely valued and where remote professionals are trusted to do their best work independently.
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Calibration Technologist or Technician to join our team on a full-time contract basis, working entirely remotely.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and compliance of critical measurement devices across multiple client environments and industries. You will work closely with engineering staff to execute and adapt calibration procedures, document findings, and drive continuous quality improvement. This position is ideal for a highly detail-oriented professional with deep roots in measurement science who is ready to take ownership of complex calibration work without the constraints of a traditional office setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute, adapt, and independently modify calibration procedures and techniques to ensure the optimal performance of a wide range of measurement equipment across client sites and industries.
- Apply advanced knowledge of measurement science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, and electronics to solve complex calibration challenges in day-to-day operations.
- Assess the suitability of measurement standards and reference materials for calibrating diverse instruments, ensuring full compliance with applicable regulatory and industry guidelines.
- Maintain detailed, accurate documentation of all calibration processes, results, findings, and corrective actions, ensuring full transparency and audit readiness.
- Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance and thorough inspection of measurement equipment, identifying deficiencies and performing or recommending necessary corrective actions.
- Collaborate directly with engineering staff to troubleshoot complex calibration issues, support process improvements, and contribute to technical decision-making.
- Assemble, configure, and verify measurement and testing equipment in accordance with established standards and client specifications.
- Maintain meticulous records of all calibration activities, findings, and solutions to support traceability, compliance reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s degree or higher in Electronics Technology, Instrumentation, Applied Physics, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent hands-on experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in calibration, metrology, testing, or a closely related technical field.
- Core Technical Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in measurement science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, and electronics as applied to calibration work.
- Practical Competencies: Proven experience in preventive maintenance, equipment inspection, corrective action procedures, and equipment assembly within a calibration or metrology environment.
- Certifications: Valid certification in metrology or calibration from a recognized body such as ASQ (American Society for Quality), NIST-traceable programs, or an equivalent industry-recognized standard.
- Documentation: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong track record of accurately documenting technical processes, calibration results, and compliance records.
- Work Style: Demonstrated dependability, cautiousness when handling sensitive instruments, and the ability to work both independently and in close collaboration with engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience delivering remote calibration services or providing technical support across multiple client locations simultaneously.
- Familiarity with a broad range of calibration standards and regulatory frameworks including ISO/IEC 17025, MIL-STD-45662, or ANSI/NCSL Z540.
- Experience working within regulated industries such as aerospace, defense, pharmaceuticals, or medical devices where measurement accuracy carries compliance and safety implications.
- Advanced certifications such as ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) or equivalent specialist designation.
Benefits and Perks
- Competitive Contract Pay: $55 – $104 per hour based on experience, qualifications, and scope of engagement — one of the strongest pay bands available for remote calibration professionals.
- 100% Remote Work: Full location flexibility with no commute, no office mandate, and no relocation requirements. Work from your preferred environment.
- Flexible Scheduling: Full-time contract structure with options for both full-time and part-time engagement depending on project needs and mutual availability.
- Professional Development: Access to continuing education resources, calibration certification support, and exposure to diverse industry environments that expand your technical expertise.
- Autonomy and Ownership: A working model built on trust — you are evaluated on results and accuracy, not hours logged at a desk.
- Meaningful, High-Impact Work: Your calibration work directly supports quality, safety, and compliance across industries where precision is non-negotiable.
How to Apply
To be considered for this role, please submit the following:
- An up-to-date resume clearly detailing your calibration experience, technical competencies, and certifications.
- A brief cover letter (no more than one page) outlining your calibration background, relevant industry experience, and why you are the right fit for a remote contract engagement.
- Copies of any relevant calibration or metrology certifications (ASQ, NIST-traceable, or equivalent).
Application Deadline: Rolling basis — applications are reviewed as they are received. Early applicants are given priority consideration.
